panasonic battery has been widely used in ups. it has many varieties, complete models and different specifications. but according to its basic properties, it can be divided into two categories: acid battery and alkaline battery.
acid battery: the electrolyte of acid battery is generally composed of dilute sulfuric acid (h2so4) or colloidal sulfuric acid, and the electrode plate is composed of lead pb and peralumina pbo2. it stores electric charge through chemical reaction and plays the role of battery energy storage.
alkaline battery: the electrolyte of alkaline battery is generally composed of koh or naoh. the plates vary according to the structure of the battery. for example, the positive plate of ni cd battery is ni (oh) 3, and the negative plate is cd; the positive plate of ni fe battery is ni (oh) 3, and the negative plate is fe; the positive plate of ag zn battery is ag 2o 3, and the negative plate is zn zn.
in the ups power supply system, the battery mostly adopts maintenance free battery. the main function of panasonic battery in ups power supply system is to store electric energy. once the mains power is interrupted, the battery will discharge to supply the inverter. the inverter will change the dc released by the battery into sinusoidal ac, maintain the ups power output, and ensure the normal power consumption of the load in a certain period of time.
when the power supply is normal, the battery stores the electric energy in the rectifying charging circuit, at the same time, it plays the role of smoothing filter for the dc circuit, and acts as a buffer when the inverter is overloaded.
in daily work, people tend to think that panasonic battery is maintenance free and not pay attention to it. however, due to the unreasonable use of the battery, the battery electrolyte dried up, heat out of control, early capacity loss, internal short circuit and other problems, which seriously affect the reliability of the power supply system. some data show that the percentage of ups main engine failure or abnormal operation caused by battery failure is about 60%. it can be seen that strengthening the correct use and maintenance of ups battery is of more and more significance for prolonging the service life of panasonic battery and reducing the failure rate of ups power supply system.
